How Lowes Can You Go?
Hello, this is Martin Lowes from Sunday Night Live....
Okay then, let me introduce you to this page.....
I decided after watching all of these talent shows, dance programs and movies like "Bring It On" I was going to learn how to Street Dance!
I thought it would be more interesting to take it from personal use to, more of a wider scale and asked my new dance partner Sarah if she wanted to come and then you lot can track our progress on the radio every week and see how we are getting on.
You may be thinking STREET DANCE ON THE RADIO EH?
But, we will be uploading videos, pictures and all the information you need to track our progress, it will be as if you are almost here with us.
So, in the words of Bruce Forsyth..... "KEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP DANCING"
TUESDAY 18th NOVEMBER
First Week went great and for a first timer, i scored 6 1/2 out of 10 and learnt some new moves, however, i was also beaten by a girl in the first week, Sarah scored 7 out of 10 but im sure that wont be the case by the end!
I can't remember the names of the moves yet, although flips, turns and the basic "rock out moves" were our favourite.
Sarah was going for the more Hip Hop groove, were I was trying the Break dance, Flips and heard a few bones crack OWCH!
Tim, who is our tutor was great he showed us some great moves and took us through it bit by bit, but i must admit i was confused at first were as Sarah was dancing the night away.
At the end of each session you can show off your new moves during "CIRCLE TIME" and im pleased to say myself and Sarah actually put on a decent little performance with our flips, turns and "rock moves"
Keep listening to track our progress and let us know how well you think we are getting on! but most importantly......."KEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP DANCING"

TUESDAY 25th NOVEMBER
So, two weeks in and my elbows are sore! As for Sarah; my new dance partner her legs are dead, together we make a great team! honestly...
This week I seemed to have trouble knowing my left from my right, where as Sarah was "Hot Rocking Away".
We learnt some new moves tonight, we went down to the floor with a "Turn Down" and came back up with some "Up Rocking" which is really just dancing towards an opponent as if you were in a B Boys Battle and finally some spins, from front to back and then back round.
We also spoke to some of the members of the group this week; Tim - The Break Dance Tutor; Carl, who has been dancing for years and describes me and Sarah as "These two new people"; Luke, who is 10 and has been learning for just over a month and; Kyle, who has been dancing for 6 weeks and has already got through his first audition for next years Britains Got Talent.
Make sure you tune in this Sunday to find out how we got on in more detail, and most importantly have I been beaten by a girl AGAIN!!!!
We will speak to Tim and the gang and get the results this Sunday from 7pm on Sunday Night Live.
In the mean time have a look at the pictures and how we have moved on from last week but most importantly......."KEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP DANCING"

TUESDAY 2nd DECEMBER
So, three weeks in and we are doing it Michael Jackson style this week.
We started off with the warm ups, which is obviously important especially in street dance as you are stretching and using almost every muscle and bone in your body (more than half of your 206 bones are found in your hands and feet so its even more important in Break Dance)
The session was cut short this week because we went to watch "FLHIP AND FLHOP" in the Arts Centre Theatre, it was a fantastic Break Dance Show with two professionals acting it out.
On the other hand, we did learn how to moon walk this week both forwards, backwards and side to side.... its a working progress.
Next week we will be looking at everything we have learnt so far and i think from here on its a matter of turning it in to perfection, and keeping our dancing in sync, timing is every thing.
Tune in this Sunday at 7pm to Sunday Night Live as we continue to track our progress and find out "How Lowes Can You Go" and check out how we are getting on by looking at the pictures.
But most importantly......."KEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP DANCING"

TUESDAY 9th DECEMBER
Wow!
What a night, everything we had learnt from week one, put together in a full sequence, it looked great!
We started off tonight in the usual way with our warm ups and then went back over the things we had been learning from previous weeks. The most common move in Street Dance is the 6step and this is the best move and looks great, when its done fast and in sync.
This week we put together everything we had learnt, from flips, hand stands, 6steps and hot rocking. I finally caught up to Sarah and I think I brushed up on my left and rights but that could take so more time.
PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE
Make sure you keep listening each and every Sunday as we continue to track our progress in Street Dance and we are working towards a show at the Arts Centre in Darlington and we might just have some tickets up for grabs!

SUNDAY 21st DECEMBER
So, we have been going a month now and i would say we have learnt a decent amount of moves and work well together as a team.
Sarah picks up the simple moves such as Hot Rocking and the foot work, where as other moves such as hand stands and back spins she isn't as "hot rocking" at them as me!
We started off on a score of 6 1/2 for Sarah and 6 for Me and by then end of the last session we were both level pegging on 9 out of 10. Have a look at the pictures to see some of the moves we have mastered, we will return with more moves after Christmas and possibly some free tickets for you to come and see us performing!
But most importantly......."KEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP DANCING"
