Apex
So, last night on the show, first one back after the new year we had Bobby from Apex on the show.
Bobb was in representing the band as the other member were suffering from man flu, and Bobby didn't want to miss this opportunity of a life time to appear on the show!
The band; originally from Durham, play all their own stuff and gave lots of advice and ideas of how to go about getting a gig with the industry getting increasingly more challenging.

3 Ways Of Thinking
Well, for a band who were nervous they put on an amazing performance and got a great response from Family, Friends and New Fans.
3 Ways of Thinking are a band from Newcastle made up of 5 Gordie members. We met the band at a gig at The Dolphin Centre, they then came and performed for us at The Dog Inn Heighnton and then on Sunday Night Live.
Here what the band have been up to and what they have coming up by listening back to the show.
Captain Oates
WOW! The bands just "keep getting better" each week, Captain Oates, a group of four lads still at school put on an outstanding performance on Sunday evening.
They had a great response from fans in the Richmond area and I think they have developed a massive fan base here Darlington with comments such as
"Euan sounds really hot has he got a girlfriend"
"They are fab! We want more!"

Change of Heart
Well, before these guys came into the studio I had only listened to Cds and heard about them but when they came in they were absolutely fantastic.
Every band sounds different when they play acoustically instead of electric but these guys sounded awesome either way. With 3 albums and 9 years in the business they are now looking to see Christmas out and get loads of presents and then focus on making fresh new music and maybe another album!

Stew Ellison
If you missed Stew on the show last Sunday you missed a treat, great response for Stew he got loads of new fans, a few gigs and ... a new groupie called Christine.
Stew is very big on original music and it is fantastic, easy to listen to and just something different which is what makes music work these days. Have a listen back to Stew and see for yourself.

Laybourne and Mardula
These guys were absolutely fantastic, from Newcastle and Newton Ayliffe and you lot loved them!
They are a duo acoustic set looking to make it big time over the next year and by hearing their music this shouldn't be to much of an issue for them.
We did however try to get some suggestions for a new name for the band as their originally name was "OLD YELLOW BRICKS" and they recently changed to "LAYBOURNE AND MARDULA" we had some strange suggestions:

THE HYADS RETURN
They either love the sound of their own voice, or we love their music, The Hyads returned to Sunday Night Live this week and put on thier best performance yet, you see practice makes perfect... almost.
The guys did one of thier new pieces of music which you can now listen back to and a cover of "THE UNDERTONES - TEENAGE KICKS" apparently with a christmas tingle to it, have a listen and see what you think.

Katie Owen
Well, were do I start, 20year old Katie has possibly one of the best voices the show hs heard in ages!
We will be giving copies of her album away in weeks to come but if you missed her speaking to use on last nights show, have a listen back and I think you will agree she is the next Christina Aguilera.
Keith Harris
So we spoke to Keith Harris on the show on the 16th November. Keith works for a company called PPL UK which pays local bands and artists when their music is played on the radio.

Miss Led Icons
So, four young lads from Darlington who met 6months ago and had a great idea to set up a band, Over these 6 months the guys have produced various different pieces of music with various different members and in the end settled for a punk/rock theme and a ambition to produce music all over the world. JB BUTTERFIELD
From Hartlepool, to Darlington we saw the first ever artist to appear on Sunday Night Live back in January. It was interesting to find out what JB has been up to and how he thinks over the year both his music and the music scene in and around the area has developed and changed. JB is a country Western singer and has a great voice, have a listen back to the show and here it for yourself.

Heluim Soul are a band from London who came down to Alpha Towers to have a chat about their latest single Ten Ton Mother Love.

Katie Coleman
Katie was on the show last night and an absolutely amazing performance she put on.
Katie is only 14 and from Hurwoth and has one of the best voices in the town. After her recent success of winning £2000 for a holiday in a singing competition and then a part in Joseph at the Civic Theatre, these were just more dates for Katie to add to her diary which is filling fast.

So, no strangers to the show, The HYads were the star guests of the show last night, we heard a little bit about what the guys have been up in the past few months and recapped their acoustic set from the show and heard there new single taken from an album they are working on promoting.

Steve Ellis
Steve Ellis is the lead singer of Love Affair, a massive band from the sixties, Steve has been into music since he was 15 and was a singer in Love Affair for a number of years and when Everlasting love made the charts, Steve was only 17 and the youngest member being the drummer was only 15.
Steve has toured with ELO, The Who and many more big names and has decided to release an album called "Best Of Days" which isn't release until September 2008.

NASH
Nash are a fairly local band, ten minutes down the road in Spennymoor and are currently at College studying Music. The band came onto to the show and performed two great cover versions and then to Their amazement walked away with a possible record deal!!!

John and his personal percussionist "TOMMY" popped in to to perform for us his new single "MY SUNRISE" John; singer and Songwriter of "The Conspirators" who were also on the show perviously and will be back on at a later date to play us their next single,don't miss it.
JADE CARNEY AND AMY COSUINS
Jade and Amy are two girls from Newton Aycliffe who are both members of The Tearaways Theatre Group in Shildon, They popped into the show to tell us a bit about the work they do at the Theatre and performed two solos and a duet.
Jade is 17 and currently re - hearsing for here role as TINKERBELL in Peter Pan where as Amy is working towards being the next Jade When she is older, A great performance and a whole load of talent under one roof.
MINIKIN
Minikin are from just down the road in Gordie land. They are a five piece rock band who have been together since 2005 and all come from unique lyrical backgrounds.
Miniin have worked together since they were just young musicians and have eventually put together their latest album "Europa"

THE HORNOSEXUALS
Something a little bit different to Sunday Night Live, The Hornosexuals are a 10 piece band made up of Trumpets, Trombones, Vocals and even occasional Rappers.
They are neither Rock, Pop, Blues or Ska, so what are they then? Certainly very different and have their own unique style which makes them so different.
The band all come from musical backgrounds, sharing ideas and lets just say it was fun trying to fit them all in to the studio.

You may know Paul from the 70s as lead singer in Mike and The Mechanics. I spoke to Paul to find out what he is up to these days but most importantly the release of his new single.

This Beautiful Thief are a four piece band from Birmingham. We spoke to Tobias who is the drummer in the band about their latest single called 'FALLING DOWN' which you can preview below. This Beautiful Thief formed in December 07 and went straight for the studio to record an album. The band have already played at some big events throughout May, June annd July and have many more to come.

Also know as the bedroom band, The Electric Nightmares have formed simply off thier own backs including promotions, music and anything else that comes with forming a band The band is made up of 13 - 16year old and are a soft rock band from middlesborough, they have been playing together for just over six months and in this short time have released and EP and are now working towards an album to be released soon.

A great local piece of music from Hayleigh, she is only 16 and from Hurworth, moving on to sixth form this year to study music. Hayleigh is very unique and her track was inspired and created by her brother, and her friend on a train, watch out for this name!!

Mark was very nervous when he first came on, but put on a great performance, his is a local lad looking for a job in the music industry and somewhere to shine and show everybody what he has got. The music Mark played acoustically on the show was all original and certainly different.

THE VERVE
I spoke to The Verve on the show about the new album that they are releasing called "FOURTH" we found out a little bit about where the band have been lately and what made them come back to making music together, finally introducing thier new single "LOVE IS NOISE"
BRAD KAVANAGH
You may know Brad more famously for his roll in musicals like HIGH SCHOOL MUSIC or from various kids programs on the DISNEY CHANNEL. Brad is staring in a new musical called CAMP ROCK which we spoke exclusively to him about and found out a little bit about how Brad started his career from day one.

This band was certainly very different, they told me that one of the members from the band were wearing underwear older than me, as they have been together and making music in the band for over 20 years.
The music that these guy played was certainly catchy and there is something in it for everyone, have a listen and see for yourself.

So, we played a track from the MESH 29 Album called Secret addiction, this band is very different and have had previous hits in the top 40 charts and won competitions over "The Klaxons", "The Fray" and they have recently supported "Scouting For Girls" in a national radio comp.

THE FAKE LAZY SUPERNOVAS
I spoke to Richard from the band on this Sundays show and this is something you must stick around for.
In the coming weeks we will be working with pupils from Beaumont Hill Primary School in Darlington; just on the Education Village and making music with them to create a CD which will then be played on Sunday Night Live.
Richard does a lot of charity work and working with children with learning disabilities so make sure you catch the track that we put together in the coming weeks.

So back into the studios, we had Gordie lads Apollo and as always they were chatty and put on a great performance here in the studio. After starting their night with chips and tomato sauce the lads played two acoustic sets from their album THIS IS MY TOWN which is available for free from Alpha Radio or to download on I Tunes, track 5 on their album "DEUS EX MACHINA" ( don't ask it's Greek ) was exclusive to Alpha on Sunday and had it's first ever public play.
